Mark Matos is an active member of various organizations and associations that focus on promoting and advancing the fields of financial planning, estate planning, and education. One of the organizations with which Matos is associated is the Florida SouthWestern Alumni Association. He has been an alumni member of this association since May 2015. Florida SouthWestern State College provides students with an opportunity to achieve their professional goals through Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Baccalaureate degree programs, as well as various certificate programs. The college has multiple campuses, including the Lee County Campus, which was renamed the Thomas Edison Campus in 2014, and the Collier County Campus, which opened in 1992. The Charlotte County Campus opened in 1997, and FSW provides services to students in Hendry and Glades counties on its Hendry/Glades Center located in LaBelle. The college is governed by its District Board of Trustees composed of nine representatives from Charlotte, Collier, Hendry, Glades, and Lee counties. The members are appointed to four-year terms by the Governor of Florida.
Matos is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of Naples, Florida, since January 2015. This interdisciplinary organization consists of professionals involved in estate planning, including estate and taxation attorneys, certified public accountants, trust company officers, chartered life underwriters, and certified financial planners. The organization strives to foster understanding of the proper relationship between these various disciplines and encourages cooperation among them.
Furthermore, Matos served as President, Vice President, and Director of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) of Southwest Florida since January 2015. The FPA is a community that fosters the value of financial planning and advances the practice and profession of financial planning. As a member of this organization, Matos collaborates with other financial planners to share resources and information to enhance their knowledge and skills.
Matos is also an alumnus of Florida Gulf Coast University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He has been associated with the Florida Gulf Coast University Alumni Association since January 2013. The association is committed to building an enduring relationship between alumni and the University community through enriching programs, pride, achievement, and the encouragement of alumni involvement, including contributions of time, talent, and financial support to the University.
Finally, Matos served on the Executive Advisory Committee for the Eagle Fund, Lutgert College of Business at Florida Gulf Coast University from February 2015 to January 2022. This committee provides advice and guidance to the Dean of the Lutgert College of Business and helped to ensure that the college achieved its strategic objectives.
